THE HAND THAT GIVES, TAKES Woke up this morning Across the road they are mourning For our beloved one, Steve is gone Like a beacon, for our tribe Steve has shone He would be a great leader at the age of fifty five, it was our estimation Now in consolation, I say Steve reached his destination Believe me folks; God had not let us down With his love he does not let any of us drown But for a new kingdom, he gives us a crown As much as we set our goals and targets in style To achieve them, no matter how hard we try Without his blessings, so as to reach them we cannot fly For in this wilderness and strange lands; our trades we ply Ultimately, holding our heads and fuming, we will cry Are we forgetting that in his love we dwell During the sunny days, saying everything is so well But during dark hours; with fear, our hearts swell With you cringing back into your shell Oh folks, God always look after us, can’t you tell He protected our beloved Steve’s leg in the night of the fight Steve did not put his footings right For it was dark, he lost his sight But when he called HIS name, the Almighty heard his plight And with joy he went into flight And his enemies he conquered in the fight during that night That was the day he became a Knight But now the hand that gives has taken The world around us appears shaken It was there from Steve’s childhood as a guide And with its guidance, everyday Steve won a prize No objection, the hand that gives has taken To us it might appear the wrong time But the Almighty, for His reasons knows its fine The hand that gives has taken
